In "Programs and Features," Kindle for PC will probably be listed as "Amazon Kindle".At the end of the installation, Kindle for PC opened automatically. I followed the above steps and downloaded version 9. However, as I was testing some of the steps above, the program updated to the current version (which I believe is 1.30) and I ran into the exact problem you described.

Interestingly enough, I had an older version of Kindle for PC installed on a Windows 7 圆4 system and it was working fine. Older versions of Kindle for PC can be found here: If you also see a folder named Kindle, delete that as well.
